About Me
Hello!
Hi, I’m Jade.
I’m a licensed special education teacher and the founder of Not So Scary™
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside children, families, educators, and individuals with a wide range of learning, developmental, and mental health needs. Those experiences have reinforced one belief that guides everything I do:
When people feel understood, they are empowered to grow.
Not So Scary™ was born from my book, “The Not So Scary T-Rex.” I wrote the book after watching someone I cared deeply about navigate learning, communication, and life's challenges and that changed the way I saw the world. It taught me that understanding has the power to replace fear with hope. What began as a desire to support one individual has grown into a mission to help many.
I created this because I wanted to create a place where people could find understanding, practical support, and hope during life’s most challenging moments.
Whether someone is navigating learning differences, emotional wellness, disability, homeschooling, major life transitions, or simply looking for guidance, my goal is to make those experiences feel a little less overwhelming—and not so scary.
I’ve never believed that people need fixing. I believe they need understanding, opportunity, and somebody who believes in their potential. And my favorite moments are watching someone discover they’re capable of more than they believed.
Beyond the Resume…my interests include:
Weightlifting (BIG advocate for nutrition and exercise)!
Reading (Lisa Jewell — my FAVORITE author)!
Working on my writing (Check me out on amazon)!
Learning new things and keeping up with professional development (SUPER NERD ALERT)!
Spending time with my pup — Nala (The BEST dog)!
My Philosophy At Not So Scary™, I believe…
Every person deserves to feel understood.
Learning should adapt to the individual—not the other way around.
Growth happens when people feel safe, supported, and empowered.
Communities become stronger when we lead with compassion and understanding.
